Two more layouts

The next layout is for Kraft it Up.  This month their challenge was to create a minimalist layout with white space.

Loved using my new template.

My last layout is for 123 Challenge.  This one wasn't easy for me as I really don't do pastels!  The criteria was Colour - Pastel, Work - Sweet, Technique - use Wire.  It really did take a while for me to get my head around this one.  I had this photo on my desk and it just dawned on me how to use it.
Here it is:

I am quite pleased with how this one turned out and I used my new chevron cutter.

Last day of the month again!

I know we say it all the time, but I just can't believe how quick November flew by.  So much has been happening in our household.
The HSC and Yr 10 exams are now over. The Yr 12 formal has been and gone, just need to get through the Yr 10 formal on Monday night.  Mikala been to Noosa for schoolies and is now in Perth for Choir.  We have had a dancing concert and a choir concert (together with all the rehearsals).  It really doesn't seem much when I list it here, but coupled with all the other things that happen on a day to day basis and some sickness, it has been very hectic.  Luckily we have a quiet week and then all the Carols stuff starts for Mikala culminating in their performance at Carols in the Domain on the Saturday before Christmas.

In the last week I have manged to do some scrapping.  Luckily they have all come together quite easily.

First one completed was for the November 15 Stuck Sketch

Just love the simplicity of the sketch.  I love these yellow roses which are in our front garden.  It was drizzling as I drove up the driveway and I caught sight of this rose.  Even in the drizzle it was so bright and happy.  Had to snap it straight away.  Love the raindrops on the leaves.

The next layout is for Black with 2.  The colour combo for November was Light Pink and Dark Pink on Black (with a touch of white).

This is a great photo of Kailtyn taken by Mikala.  She probably bopped her for taking the photo.  I think I knew exactly what was going to happen.

Mud Pools

I have done something different with this months sketches at Stuck.  I used both of them and created a double layout!!!  I wasn't getting anywhere with the 1 October Sketch, but as soon as the 2nd one came out I know exactly what I would do.

October 1 Sketch

and my layout.

October 15 Sketch
and my layout:

and both layouts together.  I love the patterns in the mud.  Unfortunately the day we were there it was raining and it was all a bit grey.

Lunch with the Girls

This months challenge at Black with 2 was:

CURRENT CHALLENGE

Black, Orange & Lime - just love those colours together.  Here is my layout

Much to the girls disapproval, I couldn't resist snapping these photos.  While we were away in October the girls lined up along the window in the sun and ate their lunch!!!

I loved using all the little embellies.

Hit and Miss

This one is for Charms 123 October Challenge.  The criteria is:

WORD: MISS
COLOUR: SCHOOL BUS YELLOW
TECHNIQUE: USE PAPER STRIPS

I had heaps of fun creating this layout.
I love how the little boys are "shooting" the girls with the water guns.  They had so much fun.

Surprise Party

Kaitlyn's birthday was in the school holidays this year and her friends organised a surprise sleepover for her (at our place).  This layout has been done for the Scrap the Girls recipe challenge.  The layout had to include:

FLOWERS
TWO DIFFERENT ALPHAS
MORE THAN ONE PHOTO
STAPLES

Have also used some misting, FWAB flourish, and a beautiful charms heart.

16th Birthday

Kraft it Up's challenge this month was all about misting.  I had heaps of fun doing this one as I am right into misting at the moment (still inspired by the fabulous Kate McCulloch).
I have used lots of different coloured mists.  I used a net bag from the oranges as a mask (orange), used some old dicut paper as a flower mask (green), done some blobs (aqua, blue & yellow) and created a stamp from some packaging on the green paper strip.

I have also used some beautiful pearl bling and flowers.

Camera Man

The challenge at 123 Challenge this month was to use: The word MAN/MEN, colour grey & metal.

Here is my layout.

This challenge got off to a slow start - just couldn't get any inspiration.  Then I came across this photo from Bangkok.  The detail & colours in the tiling of the Stupas's was amazing.  Especially when they have been there for hundreds of years.  I have used a couple of metal elements, lots of buttons and a gorgeous Charms heart.
Thanks for the challenge Charm.  I love how I had to think outside the box, and I really like what I came up with!

Selfie

I haven't done a challenge over at Kraft it Up for quite a while but when I saw this months colour challenge I couldn't resist!!

Absolutely my colour pallet.

We had High Tea (which is becoming a very lovely habit) at Gunner Barracks on Sydney Harbour.  Afterwards we decided we needed a photo of us together, so we tried to take some "selfies".  We laughed so much and we just could co-ordinate it at all.  This photo turned out great but there were many many more that just had to be deleted!!!!

I have used paint & texture paste, mist, items from D'lish scraps and the big flower, flag and button are from A lil somethin.  Just love this layout - the colours, lots of flowers and special friends.

Black with 2

Another fabulous photo of Jess and Mikala.  This one was taken at another friends 18th.  They really are gorgeous girls.  As soon as I saw that the challenge for Black with 2 for this month was Purple and Mint Green, I knew that this was the photo.

I have used lots of paint and texture paste, a FWAB flourish, some D-lish flowers.  I really like this layout.
It's a pity the colour has gone a bit wonky in the photo!!!

What a Game!

This month over at Scrap the Girls the challenge was for Action or Sports pictures.  This photo is of my daughters netball team.  They were undefeated minor premiers, but lost the grand final - by 1 goal!!!!!  I haven't seen a more intense game of netball for a long time.  This is the girls as they were waiting for the presentation.  Although they lost they should be so proud of themselves.

I  used paint and texture paste and used the net from a bag of oranges for a mask!!!

AGC

September 1 Stuck Sketch

It took a while for the inspiration to strike with this one.  It wasn't until I saw some of the CT layouts that I realised it wasn't such a daunting challenge.

Mikala's last Gala Spring Concert with the Australia Girls Choir was held on Saturday 1 September.  I think this is the best concert that the girls do all year.  It is only Performing Choir and Camerata and it is always very intimate.

3 Challenges!!

It has taken me a while and I am still a bit tentative but I am starting to use Texture Paste and paint/mists.  I must thank Charm for her 123 Challenge this month for getting me started.  The challenge is:
Texture, Green & the word Watch, here is my layout:

I have used texture paste mixed with green paint and aqua mist to create a wave effect.  The word WATCH is in my journalling.

The next layout is for White with 1.  This months challenge was:
White, Maps & Travel Embelishments.

I had to put my thinking cap on for this one.  I didn't have any pp or embellishment with a map, so what next?  I was looking through the photos from our trip to NZ in January and found this photo with a map - bingo.  Then I didn't have any travel embellies, so I had to make them from the only (not very inspiring) stamp set I had.  I am quite pleased with what I came up with - a luggage tag, ticket, compass, map & some sayings.  And I have used texture paste and paint again!!!

My third layout is for Stuck! Sketches.  It is their 5th birthday this month.  This is their1st bonus sketch:

and here is my layout.

I really really like this layout of Tim & Mikala taken at the Yr 12 Induction in September last year and to think Yr 12 is nearly over.  She finishes her trial this afternoon and will be totally finished early November - it is very scary. Have used lots of beautiful flowers from D-lish Scraps.

Next on the list will be the August 1st sketch featuring the gorgeous Kate McCulloch.  I want to thank Kate for her endless facebook encouragement and inspiration - especially with the texture paints and paints.

TFL and I love receiving your beautiful comments.

Stuck?! Sketches

Here is my layout for the 15th July Stuck Sketch. Used paint, mist & ink.

This was the original sketch:

We went to Treetops on the Central Coast during the school holidays.  We celebrated Shannyn's birthday.  Mikala & Tim finally managed to do the Black course (the hardest one).  Everyone had a great day.

123 Challenge & Flourish with a Bling

Another challenge that I wasn't going to do, but on Sunday I decided I would give it a go and I love how it turned out.
The July 123 Challenge was - Purple (a colour that does nothing for me), Chevrons (which don't inspire me either) and the word MY.  For some reason I just decided to see what I would come up with.  Purple is Mikala's favourite colour and I had some Chevron paper left over from a kit.

As I was creating this one I realised that I was using the colours of Kate's challenge over at Flourish with a Bling, so I added the flourish.  Have also used lots of little flowers from D-lish scraps.

Thanks for looking and I love reading your comments.

Black with Two

This month at Black with Two the colour scheme was:  Black with Grey/Silver & White. It took me a while to get my head around this one.  Printed off some photos I wanted to use and then just couldn't make it work so I thought I would leave it and wait till next month.   But it wasn't to be.  I was looking through my photos for another challenge and came across this one and thought it would be perfect.  Here it is:

This is the view from the balcony overlooking the Skillion at Terrigal on the NSW Central Coast.  We stayed in these apartments.  It was fabulous.

I used some silver paint with my mask (you will be proud of me Kate M), painted the chipboard flourish.  The silver flowers I have had in my stash for years - one of those purchases you though were fabulous at the time and then couldn't work out how to use them!!!  I also punched the sides of the page, but unfortunately it isn't very clear here.

Scrap The Girls

Loved the Scrap The Girls July challenge - Black, White & another colour.  For those that know me Green was the obvious choice and it just happended to go with the photo.  Have used lots of bits from my purchase at D-lish scraps.  Love the gingham ribbon I made into a flower and the polkadot buttons.
This was the last night of our trip to NZ in January and we had the most fabulous dinner in Auckland.  TFL

White with 1

I was a bit daunted about the White with 1 challenge this month - White, Polka Dots & Tape.  I solved the problem though and bought some beautiful washi tape from D-lish Scraps and got some inspiration from the gorgeous Kate McCulloch.
I had fun doing this layout and I really like it, hope you do too.

June & July RES challenges

Finished Amanda's Mystery Box Challenge for July today at RES and realised I haven't put June's on my blog either.
So here they are
June's Sketch challenge was a double.  Love doing doubles.

Susanne's Stash Stomper was to take inspiration from this photo.

June Stash Stomper- Challenge Inspiration

I used the colours as inspiration and used a summer time photo.  Have used mists to represent the snow and the colours are obvious.  I am quite pleased with this layout.

July's Mystery Box Challenge was to roll the dice.  We had to roll the dice to work out how many flowers, pp's, words in title & photos we could use.  I couldn't find a dice so got the family to call out numbers between 1 & 6.  I used 5 flowers, 3 pp's, 1 word in title & 3 photos.  This was a great challenge, thanks Amanda.

The sketch challenge was based on this sketch:

Amanda used 6" papers.  I wanted to do this but the ones I had just didn't fit with my photo.  I changed the from squares to rectangles to match my photo.  Loved this one too.

Scrap the Girls

Wow have done 2 Scrap the Girls challenges in a row.
Not the best photo (of either the layout of the subject) but I love it anyway.  This was the last night of our trip to New Zealand. We had just had a fabulous dinner on the Viaduct and we were walking back to our hotel. I love the light at this time of night.
I haven't done any fussy cutting for quite a while - this pp was perfect for that.  Have used chipboard and lots of flowers.

Black with 2

Joined in the Black with Two challenge.  For this month it is Black base plus White & Blue.  I immediately thought of this photo.

I kept the layout very simple as the photo really says it all.  I love the chipboard corner, it is so old - I painted it white, dry brushed it lightly with blue and covered it in dimensional magic.  Also found a chipboard frame and some vellum - old stuff!!!.  I also misted the background with chalk & teal, I love how the light is reflecting off it - a bit like the night sky.

We were heading back after dinner on our last night in NZ and I saw this reflection.  Tim used the little point & shoot camera, propped it on the light pole, and took this fabulous photo.  Later he went out with the better camera and took another photo of the sky tower with the moon.

RES Mystery Box Challenge & Scrap the Girls

Life has settled down a bit this week.  My daughter turned 18 on Sunday, we had a small party on Saturday night.  There will certainly be more layouts to come.

Decided that it was time for me to do some scrapping and have completed two layout.  The first one is for Red Earth scrapping Mystery Box Challenge by Amanda.  This month we had to use 2 masks, strips of paper, stitching, hand written journalling.  Had heaps of fun doing this one.

Another photo from our trip to Thailand in January 2010. Just love the food.  There are heaps of these food sellers by the side of the road.  They have the cooker on the back of a motor bike.  We stayed clear of seafood and things that just didn't look right, but other than that there was no problem with the "sticks" we bought from these guys.

I haven't done a layout for Scrap the Girls for quite a while but as soon as I saw this quote I knew I had to do it.  I knew which photos I would use as well.

"Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of.

You know whatever you do, they'll still be there." Amy Li

This layout came together quite quickly, the hardest part was working out how to put the quote on.  Was a bit nervous about the masks and using the mist on a pp.  But I am really pleased with the result.

May 123 Challenge

This is the first time I have completed a 123 Challenge.  This month the criteria are: Colour: Orange, Word: Enjoy, and use Bakers Twine.  I recently bought some orange & yellow glimmer mist and they are my favourites at the moment.  Here is my layout.  I had lots of fun doing it.

How could you not ENJOY having breakfast with such a fantastic view.  The photo is was taken 2 years ago in Fiji.

Stuck Sketches

Have scrapped again - yeh!  Have done the Stuck?! Sketch 1 May challenge.  Here is the sketch:

Over at Red Earth Scrapping, Helen added some extra criteria for this sketch.  We had to use 3 photos, bright colours & flowers & butterflies.  Here is my layout - Up in the Air.

These photos were taken on Anzac Day.  The whole extended family spent the day up at Treetops Adventure Park on the Central Coast of NSW.  I took exactly 100 photos so there will be more layouts to come.

Red Earth Scrapping Challenges

I have been scrapping!  Completed the March challenges at Red Earth Scrapping and the retreat challenge layouts.

This first one is Helen's Sketch which also happens to be the 15 March Stuck Sketch.  It took me a while to get the circle sorted - a bit out of my comfort zone there, but I am really happy with the final result.  As RES had bling and pearls as their product focus last week, I included the pearl flourish.

This next layout is for Susanne's Stash Stomper - something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.  Old - the lace flowers, embellies & chipboard, New - pp, Borrowed - an old stuck sketch, Blue - lots.  This was such a magical beach in the Bay of Islands NZ.

Next is the Mystery Box Challenge.  Bright colours, scallops, bling & pearls.

The next two layouts are pre challenges for the RES retreat this coming weekend.
1st one R - red, E - exclamation mark (in the journalling), T - ticket, R - ribbon, E - eco (the yellow flower is from a kraft envelope), A - altered, T - time (have an historical timeline)

And the last one was to use 4 or more photos.

Thanks for looking
